MSUMC has a long term Mission Partnership with a Methodist Church in the Guatemalan highlands near Chichicastenango.  At an elevation of 7000 feet, this K’iche Mayan village has a heritage rich in traditional weaving and close community life.  The Methodist Church in the village of Paxot 2 runs a free After School Program for 400 students, ages 4-18.  Students are taught Bible, literacy in Spanish, hygiene, and nutrition, and vocational training (barbering, carpentry, book keeping).  One third of the students who attend suffer from malnutrition and extreme poverty.
MSUMC has partnered to provide: new shoes for students, bulk quantities of beans and rice for the kitchen, and medication for the local clinic.  100% of the Paxot 2 Mission Fund goes for the immediate needs of this village of 1500 people. Mission Teams from MSUMC regularly travel to Guatemala to build relationships, worship together and learn from our family in faith.
