Music Ministry
Main Street has long been known for its great Music Ministry. Music sets the tone and mood for worship, joins us as a community, and provides opportunity for expression of our deepest feelings of joy, celebration and remembrance. God has blessed us with the musical talents of Orville Bame, Don Coffey, Donald Dollins, Dawn Lemasney and Adam Philips.
Our music ministry includes:
Chancel Choir
The choir practices at 7 pm. on Wednesdays in the Choir Room.
God’s Kids (Preschool-Grade 5)
“No matter whether we’re big or small, we’re God’s Kids!” This singing, dancing, drumming, giggling group of kids (Pre-K to 5) meets as part of Sunday School (year round) and Wonderful Wednesdays (Sept-May). They regularly sing during worship services. The annual highlight for this group is the Christmas Musical.
Caritas (Grades 6-12)
Vocal ensemble group focused on harmony singing techniques through a variety of musical styles, including a capella, gospel, spirituals, traditional and contemporary. They sing in worship services during the school year. Rehearsals are held on Sundays 5:30-6, followed by Youth Group. Caritas seeks to share the love of God through music.
Handbell Music
This has been a part of Main Street’s ministry since 1978 when Edith Dollins and Charlene Plunkett formed the first handbell choir. Currently we have three handbell groups. Donald Dollins is our Handbell Choir Director. With the exception of holidays, the choirs meet weekly from September through May for practice, and play a variety of religious and secular music.
Genesis Bells
An introductory handbell group for grades K-5, but adults have been known to join in as well.
Handbell Choir
