What to Expect
Whether you are visiting us from out of town or whether you’re curious to see what we’re all about, we welcome you with open arms! Below are answers to some practical, helpful questions that you may have. We hope this is helpful.
When are our worship services?
We have two services each Sunday: an informal service at 8:30am and a traditional service at 11:00am. Sunday School takes place at 9:45am.
Is childcare available?
Absolutely! Our Nursery is available on Sunday for infants to three year olds from 8:15am-12:15pm.
Where should I park?
Although limited in size, feel free to park in the primary lot next to the church. Alternatively you can park in the secondary lot nearby as well as along Church Street.
Where do I enter?
If you are new then the best entrance to use would be one of the Sanctuary Entrances (the main door that faces Main Street and two side entrances that face the parking lot or Church St). These entrances will take you directly into the ‘Narthex’ (lobby) where our greeters will meet you, you can pick up our service bulletin, and then you can enter into the sanctuary for service and sit anywhere you like. Alternatively, you can enter via the Main Entrance off the parking lot, which will bring you to our church office and the doorway into the Sanctuary. There is also a Lower Entrance where folks can enter to attend Sunday School, Preschool, or the Nursery.
Is the church handicapped accessible?
Absolutely. Handicapped parking is located in the primary parking lot next to the church. The Sanctuary and Main Entrances each have ramps and handicapped accessible, push-button doorways. Our elevator is located just inside the Main Entrance. There are also several locations within the Sanctuary designated for wheelchairs.
What about communion?
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. The table of Holy Communion is Christ’s table, not the table of The United Methodist Church or of the local congregation. Communion is open to anyone who seeks to respond to Christ’s love and to lead a new life of peace and love. Typically, worshipers receive communion by walking to the front of the Sanctuary where they receive the body and blood of Christ (in the form of bread and grape juice and then return to their seat.
How do I dress?
One word: comfortably. Some folks ‘dress up’ more than others in dresses or suits, but others will dress casually. There is no ‘dress code’, and we are hospitable to all. The important thing is that you are present for worship.
What are the worship services like?
Each of our Sunday services provide the same message of God through the same bible readings and sermons. Our 11:00 am service is a traditional service where we sing traditional hymns with our Choir along with piano/organ music. It is at the traditional service where music is often performed by our youth and Hand Bell Choir. Our 8:30 am service is informal with a more modern flare of music and songs. Each service lasts for approximately an hour.
